The POD
Meeting students where they are.
Students come to us with various prior educational experiences and background knowledge. They learn best in different ways and have different long-term goals. Because every student is different, we structure our classes, tailor lessons and use technology in new ways.
In response to this wide range of strengths and needs, we meet individual students exactly where they are to develop a learning plan that is challenging and uniquely theirs – with significant input from teachers, students and families.
Because each student has a Chromebook, we are able to integrate technology seamlessly into our instruction and enable students to work on tasks specific to them during part of class. This individualized instruction is balanced with shared discussions, small group problem-solving and large group meetings and celebrations.
As a result of learning in PODs, students are more collaborative, independent and resourceful. They build stronger relationships with teachers and each other; and make faster progress on skills that are essential for life after high school.
