Intrinsic Schools is re-imagining middle and high school for Chicago students. We have created a new model that leverages both the experience of great teachers and the precision of technology to personalize education for each student. Our goal is to prepare all students for four-year college success as demonstrated by standardized tests, products that students create and “non-cognitive” factors such as empathy, student independence, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity.
Develop as a teacher
Teachers at Intrinsic meet weekly for 3 hours of professional development. Our principal, Ms. Velasquez-Sheehy, is in each classroom daily and provides frequent feedback to help inform individual goals for every teacher.
Have a voice
We want teachers that are constantly thinking about how to improve their practice and how our school can better serve students. Our administrative team is highly collaborative. Teachers serve on committees to help improve all aspects of the school.
Be part of a great team
Every single person at Intrinsic is committed to improving student achievement and helping students meet their goals. We are a team of experienced educators that enjoy students, work hard and like to have fun.
In addition to regular teaching positions, Intrinsic is looking for a few Next Generation Fellows.
The Fellowship is a highly selective program designed to develop educational leaders in their early years of teaching. Fellows will be responsible for a partial course load and will receive 2-3 hours of professional development and planning time daily. Fellows will have the chance to travel to see high-performing schools across the country and will have the opportunity to take on leadership roles at the schools.
Next Gen Fellows are paid $30,000 with full benefits.
